"Skating sets my soul on fire — I've even requested to be buried in my skates."
I'm 47, and by day I work as an IT Specialist — but skating has been part of my life since I was 10, when my grandparents brought me back a proper pair of quad skates from a holiday in the USA. I never really put them down.
I joined Dundee Roller Derby in 2012, then stepped away for a few years after my grandson was born. By 2015/16 I was back — not for derby specifically, just because I wanted to skate. It became my time: not Mum time, not Granny time, just Angee time.
What I love about skating is that it doesn't feel like exercise once it clicks. Your muscles don't ache for days afterwards. It can be as hard as you want — proper derby training — or as easy and social as you want, just skating outdoors with the wind in your hair.
I'm also a qualified Yoga Trapeze instructor, and I'm thrilled to bring that same love of movement into RollerFitness — a brilliant way to burn calories, tone up, and meet amazing people along the way.
