I’m Hays, a roller derby skater with a long background in health and social care. For over 30 years, I worked as a manager in complex care settings—a role I cared deeply about but which eventually took a toll on my mental health. Stepping away from that career was a big decision, and skating became a huge part of my recovery and rediscovering who I am.

I found Skate Buddies in Birmingham and became part of the first cohort in their RollerFitness Academy. Through that journey, I’ve fallen completely in love with RollerFitness—the movement, the community, and the joy of helping people feel strong and confident on skates.

I’m passionate about making skating accessible and welcoming. Now, I’m excited to bring the RollerFitness energy back down to Devon and Cornwall to share that love with others, focusing on how skating can build resilience, freedom, and deep connection.
