“Age is not a barrier; skating is open to everybody and has the power to change lives.”
At the age of 42, I decided I wanted to improve my fitness. I bought a pair of roller skates, and what began as a simple hobby through my local Roller Derby league turned into a journey that changed my life. I fell in love with the sport and the community, eventually becoming a referee and coaching new skaters at the start of their journey.
In 2018, I decided to take my passion to the next level. I left my job to study for a degree in Sports Coaching & Development, where I studied and wrote extensively about the mechanics and culture of skating. Outside of Derby, I now coach local college students, using "learn to skate" classes to support their mental wellbeing.
I found RollerFitness while searching for a specialized certification that matched my academic background. Over the years, I have seen the immense physical and mental benefits skating provides. I am delighted to be part of the RollerFitness family and proof that enthusiasm, patience, and passion never expire.
